The Lagos State Criminal Justice Sector Reform Committee
The Lagos State Criminal Justice Sector Reform Committee (LSCJSRC) began operations in 2011 but became institutionalized and legally established in 2021 under the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State (Amendment) Law 2021.
Section 24 of the Amendment Law created new Sections 375 to 387 in the ACJL, formally establishing the Committee as an umbrella body that brings together criminal justice sector actors to ensure an efficient, effective and consultative approach to the administration of criminal justice. The move arose from the need to address the cross-institutional inefficiencies in the delivery of justice and maintenance of the rule of law in Lagos State.
The Committee is a policymaking, implementation and oversight coordinating mechanism for reform of the criminal justice system as reflected in its membership comprising State and non-State actors from the criminal justice sector.
